Magnesium Metal Description
Magnesium is a kind of light, high strength metal material with
many excellent properties, so it is widely used in aircraft
manufacturing. Magnesium is a silver-white metal with high chemical
reactivity and electrical conductivity. It is also a lightweight
material, with a density of 1.74g/cm³, about 30% lighter than
aluminum. The melting point of magnesium is 648℃, the boiling point
is 1107℃, the coefficient of thermal expansion is small, the
coefficient of thermal conductivity is high, and has good corrosion
resistance and machinability.
Magnesium is mainly used in aircraft manufacturing to make aircraft
structural materials, such as brackets, bolts, nuts, propellers,
fuselage, wings and other parts. Compared with other materials,
magnesium metal density is smaller, higher strength, has good
tensile, compressive, bending, shear and other mechanical
properties. At the same time, magnesium has high fatigue life, good
reliability and long service life, which can meet the requirements
of aircraft structural materials.
