Ferror Chorme Description

Ferro Chrome(FeCr) is an iron alloy composed of chromium and iron. It is an important alloy additive for steelmaking. According to different carbon content, ferro chrome can be divided into high-carbon ferrochrome , low-carbonferrochrome , Micro-carbon ferrochrome . The lower the carbon content of ferrochrome, the more difficult it is to smelt, the higher the power consumption, and the higher the cost.

Ferrochrome with a carbon content of less than 2% is suitable for smelting stainless steel, acid-resistant steel andother low-carbon chromium steels. Ferrochrome with a carbon content of more than 4% is commonly used to make ball bearing steeland steel for auto parts.

1. High carbon ferrochrome is used as an alloying agent for ball steel (0.5% to 1.45% Cr), tool steel, die steel (5% to 12% Cr) and high speed steel (3.8% to 4.4% Cr) to increase steel. The hardenability increases the wear resistance and hardness of the steel. The addition of chromium to cast iron improves hardness and improves wear resistance. Chromium containing 0.5% to 1.0% improves mechanical properties. High-carbon ferrochrome and charge-grade ferrochrome are used in large quantities to smelt stainless steel (AOD or VOD method) to reduce production costs.

2. Medium and low carbon ferrochrome is used to produce medium and low carbon structural steel, carburized steel, gears, high pressure blower blades, valve plates, etc. Micro-carbon ferrochrome is used in the production of stainless steel, acid-resistant steel, heat-resistant steel and electrothermal alloy.
