Ferrosilicon Description
Product Properties - Ferrosilicon is a convenient way to add
silicon as an alloying element, improving various properties of the
final steel.
Slag reduction – In the manufacture of stainless steel, the
presence of silicon can reduce chromium oxides in the melt, thereby
increasing the recovery of metallic chromium.
Deoxidation – Ferrosilicon can quickly remove oxygen from the melt,
thereby avoiding the presence of inclusion-forming oxides and the
loss of desired elements.
Fuel – Some steel mills add ferrosilicon to the melt so that it can
be burned away, bringing heat into the furnace and thus reducing
energy costs.

Ferrosilicon Application
(1) Used as deoxidizer and alloying agent in steelmaking industry.
(2) Used as an inoculant and spheroidizing agent in the cast iron
industry
(3) Used as a reducing agent in the production of ferroalloys.
(4) Uses in other areas. The ground or atomized ferrosilicon powder
can be used as the suspended phase in the mineral processing
industry.
It can be used as coating for welding rods in welding rod
manufacturing. High-silicon ferrosilicon can be used to manufacture
silicone and other products in the chemical industry.
