Ferro silicon Description
Ferro silicon is an atomized alloy, which is formed by combining
iron and silicon with a silicon content range of 15% to 90%.
Foundry and ferroalloy industries are the largest users of
ferrosilicon.They consume about 90% of ferrosilicon. Among the
different grades of ferrosilicon, the 75% ferrosilicon most widely
used. In the steel making industry. about IMIT steel is consumed
3-5kg 75%ferrosilicon currently.

(1) Ferrosilicon is an indispensable deoxidizer in the steelmaking
industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation
deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation. Brick iron is also used in
steelmaking as an alloying agent.
(2) Used as an inoculant and a nodularizer in the cast iron
industry. In the production of ductile iron, 75 ferrosilicon is an
important inoculant (helping to precipitate graphite) and
nodularizing agent.
(3) Used as a reducing agent in the production of ferroalloys. Not
only the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is very high,
but also the carbon content of high silicon ferrosilicon is very
low. Therefore, high-silicon ferrosilicon (or siliceous alloy) is a
commonly used reducing agent in the production of low-carbon
ferroalloys in the ferroalloy industry.
