Metallic Silicon Production Process
Generally, high-quality quartz sand is directly used for the
production of high-grade quartz glass products, or even processed
into gemstone-level products such as quartz crystals and
tourmaline. Quartz sand of slightly lower grade but with larger
reserves, easier mining conditions, and cheaper surrounding
electricity is suitable for the production of metallic silicon.
Currently, the production process of metallic silicon in China
using the carbothermal method generally involves using quartzite as
the raw material, with petroleum coke, charcoal, wood chips, and
low-ash coal as reducing agents. The smelting takes place in an
electric arc furnace at high temperatures to reduce metallic
silicon from the quartzite. This is a slag-free smelting process
with a buried arc at high temperatures.

Silicon metal powder is made of Silicon lumps by crushing, seiving,
washing process etc. We have different grades of Si content powder,
and we have different Si powder crushing and sieving processes to
adapt to different applications of silicon powder.
