Applications of Metal Silicon
Iron and steel industry: Metal silicon is widely used in the
smelting of ferrosilicon alloys and is also a reducing agent for
smelting various metals. Metal silicon can replace aluminum in the
steelmaking process, improving the efficiency of deoxidizers,
purifying molten steel, and enhancing the quality of steel.
Aluminum alloys: Silicon is also a good component in aluminum
alloys, and most cast aluminum alloys contain silicon.
Electronics industry: Metal silicon is the raw material for
ultra-pure silicon in the electronics industry. Electronic devices
made from semiconductor silicon have advantages such as small size,
light weight, high reliability, and long lifespan.
Chemical industry: Metal silicon is used in the production of
silicone rubber, silicone resins, and silicone oils. Silicone
rubber has good elasticity and can be used to manufacture medical
supplies and gaskets. Silicone resins are used in the production of
insulating varnishes and high-temperature resistant coatings.
