Silicon metal powder is made of Silicon lumps by crushing, seiving,
washing process etc.
We have different grades of Si content powder, and we have
different Si powder crushing and sieving processes to adapt to
different applications of silicon powder.

The additional products of silicon metal include silicon
micropowder, edge-skinned silicon, black-skinned silicon, silicon
metal slag and so on. Among them, silicon micropowder, also known
as silicon powder, microsilicon powder or silicon ash, is widely
used in the refractory and concrete industries.
Industrially, silicon metal is usually produced by reducing silicon
dioxide from carbon in an electric furnace. Chemical reaction
equation: SiO2 + 2C → Si + 2CO The purity of silicon thus produced
is 97~98%, called silicon metal. Then it will melt and
recrystallize, with acid to remove impurities, to get the purity of
99.7 ~ 99.8% of the silicon metal. Silicon metal is mainly composed
of silicon, so it has similar properties to silicon. Silicon has
two kinds of isotopes: amorphous silicon and crystalline silicon.
Amorphous silicon is a gray-black powder, which is actually a kind
of microcrystal.
Crystalline silicon with diamond crystal structure and
semiconductor properties, melting point 1410 ℃, boiling point 2355
℃, Mohs hardness 7, brittle. Amorphous silicon is chemically
active, in oxygen can burn violently. It reacts with halogens,
nitrogen, carbon and other non-metals at high temperatures, but
also with magnesium, calcium, iron and other metals to generate
silicides. Amorphous silicon is almost insoluble in all inorganic
and organic acids, including hydrofluoric acid, but is soluble in a
mixture of nitric and hydrofluoric acids. Concentrated sodium
hydroxide solution can dissolve amorphous silicon, releasing
hydrogen gas. Crystalline silicon is relatively inactive, even at
high temperatures, but not with oxygen, it is also insoluble in any
kind of inorganic and organic acids, but can be dissolved in nitric
acid and hydrofluoric acid mixture of acids and concentrated sodium
hydroxide solution.
